Complementary Treats
Even in my small, local grocery co-op, shopping can be difficult, especially if I take both Drake and Guppy with me. By the time I get to the end, I feel the need for a sustaining treat to get me through checkout, bagging and the ride home. Cannily, my store stocks individual cans and bottles of Izze sparkling juice and the non-guilt-inducing sized bars of Dagoba organic chocolate before the register lines, just where my spirit usually flags. I’ve made a sort of game, pairing complementary flavors of soda and chocolate. Here are my favorites, thus far.
Pomegranate Izze/Lime Dagoba chocolate bar
Blueberry Izze/Lavender Dagoba chocolate bar
Clementine Izze/Lime or Dark Dagoba chocolate bar
Grapefruit Izze/Mon Cherri Dagoba chocolate bar
Pear Izze/Dark Dagoba chocolate bar

I’d be going the Roseberry Dagoba chocolate - which you didn’t mention. Sublime.

What do you recommend with the blackberry Izze (my personal fave)? I’m thinking the dark chocolate would be good.

With the blackberry Izze, I’d try the lime, the mint, or the roseberry.
I neglected to note that my co op carries a limited selection of both the Izze and the Dagoba. The Mint and Roseberry Dagoba, and the Blackberry Izze aren’t stocked.
When I went to purchase the Clementine Izze and the Chai Dagoba today, I realized that the Chai Dagoba is milk, not dark, chocolate. Since I have no use for milk, I switched to the Grapefruit Izze/Mon Cherri combo, which was good. The register guy wondered if there were other chocolates that might serve. Next time I will try the Clementine Izze with Green and Black’s Maya Gold bar, and check out the other Green and Black dark chocolate flavors that they carry for even more combinations. http://www.greenandblacks.com/chocolate.php
