And So It Begins
Doesn’t it seem like post-Halloween is too soon for holiday decorations and best-of lists?
In any case, Publishers Weekly has their picks for the year in several categories: fiction, poetry, nonfiction, mystery, sci fi, kids and more. I’ve read only one from the fiction list, My Revolutions by Hari Kunzru, which I recommend. (Link from Minnesota Reads)

Thanks for your comment!
I agree about the seasons–I was shopping this morning, and a mall parking lot already had Christmas banners on the light poles, and Thanksgiving merchandise was already marked down 75%. I don’t see the need to rush towards the end of the year…

Well, you did better than I did as although I’ve heard of several of the books on the list, I’ve not read any of them. I’m intrigued by several of the titles that they mention, but I’m going to wait to add any of them to my reading list, since I’ve got enough books on my shelves that need to be read to last me another year! Why is it that my reading list is like a hydra? I knock one book off of it, only for about 4 others to appear in its place?
