After Harry Potter 7 (No spoilers!)
After I finally finished HP7, I wanted to talk about it.
For further nerdish obsessing, my friend Blogenheimer suggested the Slate book club discussion of Harry Potter (warning: spoilers abound!)
I found the Entertainment Weekly Harry Potter issue curiously un-nuanced and borderline sycophantic. I enjoyed it anyway, especially this spoiler-riffic FAQ about the book.

I enjoyed the Slate book club postings and waited each day for a new one. Also, I know you go to Throwing Things, but the first thread on HP was over 100 comments and last I checked, the second was over 50. Russ and gretchen were having a great discussion about, hmm . . . you’ve kept your site spoiler free, so I’ll just say about Snape. Their arguments were more nuanced than that, and a great read. One commentator was also talking about the series as a story of three boys.
You need to do a search for the first TT HP thread, because it fell off the page last week, but people are still reading and commenting on the second as of yesterday.

Thanks for the heads up on the thread, I will check it out this weekend. After all is said and done, Snape is definitely my favorite character, and would be even if he weren’t played by Alan Rickman in the movies.
